MJF, the AEW World Champion, has openly stated that his contract with AEW is set to expire in January 2024. He has also hinted at a potential bidding war for his services, a sentiment echoed by Disco Inferno on the “Keepin’ It 100” podcast. Inferno suggested that WWE, having already secured Cody Rhodes, might be interested in acquiring MJF, who he described as the “biggest fish in their pond.”

Inferno’s comments highlight MJF’s significant role in AEW, where he is not only the champion but also a key figure in terms of screen time and promotional activities. However, Konnan, another guest on the podcast, expressed doubts about WWE’s willingness to enter into a bidding war for MJF, despite acknowledging his talent.

LEIA MAIS:

“WWE is fishing for the big fish. They already got Cody [Rhodes]. This is like the second biggest fish: their champion, their best talker, the guy they literally invest more TV time than any other character on that show, pretty much,” he said. “By talking about this so much, he put himself in a great spot because there is going to be a bidding war for this guy because he’s the biggest fish in their pond. He’s the one guy WWE probably wants to get in the promotional war.”

MJF, who is reportedly earning over $1 million per year, has not shied away from teasing a possible move. Yet, Konnan pointed out that WWE is doing well without him, which might influence their decision to engage in a bidding war. Nonetheless, the appeal of acquiring a top star from a rival company, as they did with Cody, cannot be overlooked.
