The much-anticipated AEW Collision is set to make its debut on June 17, featuring a high-profile trios main event with CM Punk and FTR taking on Samoa Joe and Bullet Club Gold. Amidst the excitement, questions have arisen regarding how AEW owner Tony Khan persuaded David Zaslav and Warner Bros Discovery, known for their recent cost-cutting measures, to allocate an additional two hours for wrestling programming on TNT. Vince Russo, on The Wrestling Outlaws, proposed a theory.

Russo suggested that Khan is personally funding this new Saturday night venture. He expressed his conviction that Khan’s financial backing is the only plausible explanation for the expansion. Russo stated, “Tony Khan is buying the television time. Period. End of story.” He further argued that Khan, being a billionaire, is likely paying TBS and TNT more than they would earn from advertising for those shows.

Despite skepticism from his co-hosts, Russo continued to speculate that Khan might even acquire the network itself to broadcast as much AEW programming as he desires, including “AEW All Access.” Drawing parallels with WCW’s strategy, Russo hypothesized that it’s only a matter of time before Khan emulates Ted Turner and becomes the owner of TNT. If Russo’s theory holds, Turner Network Television could soon transform into Tony Network Television.
