A surprise return by a former WWE Champion is rumored for the upcoming “New Year’s Revolution” edition of SmackDown in 2024. Following The Rock’s unexpected appearance on RAW: Day 1, speculation is mounting about another high-profile comeback.
According to PWInsider, either Sheamus or NXT star Tyler Bate is poised to join Butch in a tag team contest against Pretty Deadly.

Sheamus, absent since August 2023, is considered the more likely candidate from a storyline perspective. His return could further develop the ongoing narrative involving Ridge Holland and Butch, and reinvigorate The Brawling Brutes faction.
Sheamus, who last competed in a match against AEW star Adam “Edge” Copeland, took a hiatus to recover from injuries. His potential return coincides with the build-up to what is being touted as one of the biggest WrestleManias ever.
