During the February 4th episode of WWE NXT, General Manager Ava addressed the ongoing situation between Je’Von Evans and Ethan Page backstage. Evans had been recovering since December 17th after Page’s attack left his jaw wired shut.

Despite Evans’ attempt to protect Dante Chen from Page on January 14th, the intervention resulted in another physical altercation. One week later, Ava announced that Evans had not yet received medical clearance to compete.

The discussion between Ava, Evans, and Page on February 4th initially focused on Evans’ suspension for appearing without clearance. Page proposed a solution by requesting a match between them, leading Ava to schedule their encounter at NXT Vengeance Day, contingent upon Evans receiving medical clearance.
WWE has since promoted the match as part of the NXT Vengeance Day card.
