WWE has strategically reserved the Jey Uso vs. Logan Paul World Heavyweight Championship match for the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event special on May 24, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The decision to delay the high-profile bout allows WWE to feature two major title matches on the NBC broadcast from Tampa’s Yuengling Center.
Dave Meltzer reports the Memorial Day weekend special – already advertising John Cena’s appearance – will likely pair the Undisputed WWE Champion’s segment with Uso’s title defense against Paul. The scheduling creates dual main events for the 9,224-seat venue, which WWE expects to sell out with tickets priced at $83.
The company previously teased the championship feud through Paul’s post-Raw attack on Uso, designed specifically for social media engagement. By moving the match to the network special, WWE maximizes exposure for both the championship storyline and Cena’s retirement tour appearances.
