Kenny Omega has adopted a more measured wrestling approach after a severe diverticulitis attack in December 2023 nearly ended his career. The AEW competitor spent over a year recovering before returning to action in January 2025 following surgery.
Omega credits agent Barry Bloom for prioritizing his health during rehabilitation. “It wasn’t about money,” Omega told Adi Shankar. “Barry insisted on medical clearance first—he treats me like family.” The illness forced Omega to confront career mortality, influencing his current ring style.
Since his comeback, Omega has worked seven matches, including an International Championship victory over Konosuke Takeshita. However, his recent six-man tag loss against Kazuchika Okada’s team highlighted strategic changes—reducing high-risk moves for calculated storytelling.
