Nikki Bella Speaks Out On $3,500 Divorce Payment Controversy

Nikki Bella directly addressed public discussion surrounding her divorce settlement with Artem Chigvintsev, offering clarification on the financial arrangements via a statement on Twitter/X. Responding to reports, notably from TMZ.com, which stated she would pay $3,500 monthly in child support for their son, Matteo, Nikki Bella sought to educate on the legal underpinnings of such agreements.

In her post, she emphasized, “I hope you all read this bc you all don’t understand the law. Child Support is about income per year. So whoever makes more and depending on how much they make a year they pay monthly. We have 50/50 custody. CA State Law. And the 200k is bc [because] he didn’t sign a pre nup. So that’s alimony. Has nothing to do with anything else except divorce. You’ll need to educate yourself and stop assuming off of click hate headlines.” Her comments aimed to correct assumptions by detailing that child support payments are dictated by income disparities under California State Law, where they share 50/50 custody, and distinguished a $200,000 payment as alimony stemming from the absence of a prenuptial agreement.

Settlement Details Outline Co-Parenting and Asset Division

Beyond Nikki Bella’s direct clarification, documents obtained by PEOPLE outlined further specifics of the divorce agreement with Artem Chigvintsev, which was finalized after a contentious period that included Chigvintsev’s arrest in August 2024 and subsequent restraining orders. The settlement confirms the $3,500 monthly child support and the $200,000 lump sum alimony to Chigvintsev. Nikki Bella will also cover Matteo’s health insurance, speech therapy, and his preschool education for the 2024-2025 year, with other extracurricular costs to be shared. The parents will alternate major holidays with their son and jointly decide on his schooling for the 2025 academic year.

The division of assets sees Nikki Bella retaining their Napa home and her business interests, while Chigvintsev keeps their Los Angeles residence and his respective trusts. In November 2024, following a private mediation, a representative stated, “Both parties decided to drop the domestic violence restraining orders against each other in an effort to move on with their lives and effectively co-parent their son. Nikki’s number one priority has always been her son and privacy on the matter.”

Reflecting on their path forward, Nikki Bella expressed hopes for their co-parenting relationship during a December 2024 episode of The Nikki & Brie Show. “We both are very focused on Matteo, and that’s the great thing. I pray every day [that] we’ll be great friends,” she shared. “I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon, but I pray for it because that’s what Matteo deserves.”
