Will Ospreay Opens Up About Developing His Mic Skills

AEW performer Will Ospreay recently shared insights on Busted Open Radio regarding his approach to microphone work and his belief in the effectiveness of a recent Dynamite segment with Hangman Page in promoting their upcoming AEW Double or Nothing main event on May 25, 2025, while also addressing criticisms of his on-screen presentation.

During his appearance on Busted Open Radio, Will Ospreay discussed his evolving confidence on the microphone. “I have not been so confident in my microphone technique,” Ospreay admitted, detailing his practice regimen. “It’s been a lot of practicing and looking in the mirror and just trying my best to do this. There are certain times when I wish I reined it in a little bit, but I think this is just getting my reps in and learning how to do this side of the job.”

Despite this, he expressed satisfaction with a recent promotional segment on Dynamite opposite Hangman Page, believing it significantly boosted anticipation for their pay-per-view encounter: “But, I’ll be honest with you, I was really proud of what I was able to do there. I think we really sold the pay-per-view, I mean, the numbers say itself. I think the tickets are nearly sold out. So the fact that we was able to put a little bit more emphasis on how important this match is is just something that I’m just extremely proud of.”

Ospreay also addressed comments regarding his attire on AEW programming, emphasizing the value of being genuine. “It’s essential (to be honest with the audience),” he began. “For me, I think the more I show vulnerability and the more — I know that one of the criticisms I get, not just about my hair, but like… dressing appropriate for the role I wanna be as one of the top guys and I do understand that to an extent.” However, he contended that his authentic dress style fosters a stronger connection with viewers: “But I feel like more of the authentic that I dress, the more that people relate to me. I’d just done an interview over in a news studio… I feel like because I am dressed in a certain way, I look way more presentable. Like, I come down a level and it’s more of like I’m way more humble, I’m way more approachable in that sense and I think that’s the reason a lot of people have gravitated more towards me in that sense.” [H/T: Fightful]
