Mariah May’s standing with AEW remains a subject of discussion following her absence from programming since the Revolution pay-per-view, where her feud with “Timeless” Toni Storm over the AEW Women’s World Championship concluded in a Hollywood Ending match. After a significant ascent in AEW’s women’s division over the past year, her prolonged hiatus has coincided with reports of interest from WWE.
Multiple reports have suggested May has had a long-standing desire to join WWE, with WrestleVotes indicating that the company is prepared to make a notable contract offer. This situation arises after other talents such as Ricky Starks, Malakai Black, and Miro departed AEW for WWE at the beginning of 2025.
During May’s absence, AEW’s women’s division has seen considerable activity, with a roster featuring Mercedes Mone, Toni Storm, and Jamie Hayter, alongside the recent Dynamite debut of international talent Thekla. This has led to observations that the prominent spots May once occupied are now being filled by others.

Adding to the speculation, Mariah May, on May 28, 2025, addressed her AEW absence on social media, stating she was on vacation and not unemployed, though she subsequently deleted these posts. In a recent vlog from the same period, May also commented on receiving what she perceived as unequal accommodations during an AEW taping in Chicago. Her AEW contract is reportedly set to expire in 2025.
Regarding a potential WWE debut, particularly in time for the upcoming all-women’s premium live event, WWE Evolution 2, WrestleVotes commented on the timeline. “No, July 13th, I think it’s too soon. Don’t believe her contract will officially be up by then. Don’t believe she’ll be signed, if she’s coming, don’t believe it’ll be happening before Evolution, so no,” the outlet stated, implying her current AEW contract would prevent an appearance.
With these developments, Mariah May’s next career move is currently undetermined.
