Drew McIntyre recently elaborated on his relationship with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, describing a consistent history of support from the entertainment icon. Johnson has been a long-term mentor figure for McIntyre, frequently offering guidance throughout his career.
McIntyre revealed that Johnson’s counsel extended even to periods when his on-screen presence was minimal, such as during his time in the 3MB stable. Recalling earlier interactions, McIntyre stated, “He’s always been there, since I was a kid he was in and out of WWE he always took the time to give me advice, (he) has always looked out for me the entire time when he’s been around.”
Johnson’s belief in McIntyre’s potential was evident even when the wrestler’s television portrayal did not suggest a future top star. McIntyre referenced a TMZ clip from before his major push and Royal Rumble win, noting, “There was the TMZ clip prior to the big push, it wasn’t like I was doing the stuff I was doing before I won the Royal Rumble in 2019-2020 and they asked who’s the future star and he mentioned myself, which was pretty cool because there was nothing on TV suggesting that, he just always believed in me and thank goodness things have come to pass eventually.”

The supportive relationship also extends to Johnson’s business partner and ex-wife, Dany Garcia. McIntyre remembered Garcia speaking positively about him early in his career, stating, “I still remember being a kid, his ex-wife, business partner Dany (Garcia) was on a flight I was on and had such positive words to say when I was so young which was really cool.”
This enduring connection was further highlighted last year when Johnson publicly announced McIntyre’s new contract via Instagram. Additionally, McIntyre was recently confirmed as a partner for Johnson’s ‘Project Rock’ collection, underscoring their ongoing professional collaboration.
