Speculation is mounting that a significant new rivalry for John Cena could be initiated on tonight’s episode of WWE RAW, which emanates from the PHX Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. The anticipation grew after wrestling insider Cory Hays of BodySlam posted an image on X/Twitter showing a past staredown between Cena and CM Punk. The post was later amplified by Viper Reports, which suggested that the promotion might begin teasing the high-profile feud during the broadcast.
This development follows Cena’s recent appearance at Money in the Bank this past Saturday. In the night’s main event, he teamed with Logan Paul in a losing effort against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. The conclusion of the match saw the surprising return of R-Truth, who hit Cena with a Spear, allowing Rhodes to secure the pinfall victory with the Cross Rhodes. The involvement of R-Truth adds another layer of potential conflict, especially considering that plans from late May had Cena scheduled for a match against him at a Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The potential for new feuds comes at a pivotal time, as Cena is currently on a farewell tour set to conclude in 2025. This recent loss at Money in the Bank stands in contrast to his historic achievement at WrestleMania 41, where he defeated Cody Rhodes to capture his 17th Undisputed WWE Championship. His 2025 run has also been marked by a notable heel turn, adding a different dimension to the final chapter of his in-ring career.
