TNA World Title Match Announced For Next Week’s WWE NXT

A title match for the TNA World Championship has been scheduled for WWE NXT programming after the champion, Trick Williams, was pinned during a six-man tag team contest on the June 17 broadcast. Josh Briggs will challenge Williams for the championship on the next episode.

The sequence of events began when the team of Briggs, Yoshiki Inamura, and TNA’s Elijah defeated the trio of Williams, Wes Lee, and AJ Francis. The victory was secured when Inamura executed a top-rope splash on Williams for the pinfall.

Following the match, a backstage segment occurred involving Briggs and his tag team partner. Briggs asserted that his team’s victory entitled him to a championship opportunity. Inamura proposed that Briggs should be the one to challenge Williams, while simultaneously stating his own ambition to pursue the NXT Championship, which is held by Oba Femi.

WWE later made the title bout official. There has been no official announcement regarding a potential match between Inamura and Femi for the NXT Championship.
