Original AEW All In Plan Had The Young Bucks Against A WWE Team

A new report details the significant match AEW internally planned for the Motor City Machine Guns before the team signed with WWE.

New details have emerged regarding the original plans All Elite Wrestling had for the Motor City Machine Guns before the decorated tag team ultimately signed with WWE. According to a report from Fightful Select, AEW’s creative team internally discussed a high-profile AEW World Tag Team Championship match for its All In event.

The proposed bout would have featured Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley challenging The Young Bucks for the titles on the massive pay-per-view stage. This plan was formulated while the Machine Guns were engaged in contract discussions with both AEW and WWE in 2024.

However, the potential marquee match never came to fruition. Communication between AEW and the Motor City Machine Guns reportedly ceased during the summer, leading the company to believe the duo was headed to WWE. Consequently, AEW adjusted its creative direction for the tag team division.

This pivot resulted in a different championship match at All In, where The Young Bucks ultimately defended their titles against both FTR and The Acclaimed.

Sabin and Shelley would later debut in WWE, making an immediate impact by capturing the WWE Tag Team Championships within their first week on the main roster.
