AEW commentator Tony Schiavone undertook a remarkable cross-country journey, flying from Georgia to Seattle and back in a single day, all to adopt a rescue dog. The story, detailed in a report from Seattle’s KIRO-TV, began with a backstage encounter at an AEW event.
The catalyst was a Chihuahua-beagle mix that former AEW talent Saraya had with her at a show. Schiavone learned the dog came from Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, located in Monroe, Washington. When AEW later held events in the Seattle area, Schiavone connected with the rescue.
Although the specific litter Saraya’s dog came from had already been adopted, Schiavone browsed the organization’s website. He discovered a small dog that reminded him of a Chihuahua he had recently lost. He informed the rescue’s director, Pate, that he was “going to get” that dog.

True to his word, Schiavone used his frequent flyer miles for the flight to Seattle and then took an Uber to Monroe to complete the adoption of the dog, now named Dobby.
“[Dobby has been my] little buddy ever since,” Schiavone told KIRO-TV, noting the dog follows him everywhere in his house.
His connection to the non-profit continues, as Schiavone now makes monthly donations to support Motley Zoo’s efforts. He has also made several return visits to the rescue, having developed an affection for the Seattle area. The region recently hosted AEW programming, with shows taking place in Kent, Washington.
