Former WWE Star Cora Jade Set To Face Major AEW Star

Following her WWE release, Cora Jade has been announced for a significant match against a current AEW star on the independent circuit.

Cora Jade, now performing under her former independent name Elayna Black, has secured her first major booking since her WWE release. Game Changer Wrestling confirmed she will face current AEW talent Deonna Purrazzo.

The high-profile match is scheduled for Friday, August 1st, at The Williams Center in Rutherford. GCW made the official announcement on its social media platforms, revealing the collision between the former NXT standout and the AEW star as a headline attraction for their upcoming event.

Via its X/Twitter account, the promotion announced the bout.

This match marks a significant step for Black, who was released from her WWE contract on May 2, 2025. Her departure was part of a larger wave of roster cuts that included talents from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. Black later revealed that company officials described her release as a “company decision.”

Before her exit, she also made appearances in TNA Wrestling as part of the working relationship between the two promotions, where she challenged for the Knockouts World Championship. Now returning to her roots as Elayna Black, she begins the next phase of her career on the independent scene.
