Kota Ibushi is officially set for his in-ring return to AEW, with a match against Trent Beretta now confirmed for this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. The bout marks Ibushi’s first contest for the promotion since 2023 and will also be his first-ever singles match in the company.
The announcement follows Ibushi’s surprise appearance on the June 21 edition of AEW Collision. During a segment where Don Callis introduced Kazuchika Okada as the newest member of his faction, Mark Briscoe interrupted to state that Kenny Omega had allies of his own. Ibushi then emerged to stand with Briscoe, making his allegiance clear.
His return immediately escalated into a physical confrontation. Ibushi brawled with members of the Don Callis Family, delivering a head kick to Josh Alexander before engaging in a tense, face-to-face exchange of strikes with Okada, ultimately gaining the upper hand.

This conflict is directly tied to the upcoming title unification match between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada, scheduled for the All In event on July 12. Ibushi’s return provides a significant boost for Omega ahead of that high-stakes encounter. His match against Beretta, another member of the Callis Family, serves as the next chapter in the building rivalry.
A Japanese wrestling legend, Ibushi signed with AEW in 2023, but his career has been significantly limited by both injuries and visa issues that kept him out of action since November of that year.
