“Always Had Eye on Me” – WWE Star Opens Up About Support from The Rock

Drew McIntyre discusses The Rock's consistent support throughout his career, from his early WWE days to his current run, during a recent Inside The Ropes interview.

Drew McIntyre detailed the ongoing support he has received from The Rock during an interview with Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes. McIntyre explained that The Rock’s mentorship dates back to his first WWE run.

Yeah, and that’s never lost on me. He’s always been a supporter of mine from my first run. I remember seeing his ex, Mrs Dany Garcia that he works with at such a high level, and she’d said such positive words when I was about 22-23 years old on a plane about how highly they thought of me, which was very cool.

McIntyre noted that The Rock’s support continued even during his time away from WWE. The Rock publicly endorsed McIntyre in a 2017 TMZ interview, calling him “the next guy” despite McIntyre not having a prominent position at that time.

The Rock’s always had an eye out for me ever since back then, with TMZ positive comments in 2017 when I really wasn’t doing anything to suggest that I was the next guy. He could see it all the way through to these days where he’s still there for advice.

The relationship between the two was highlighted in April 2024 when The Rock gifted McIntyre a sword after McIntyre re-signed with WWE.

During the same interview, McIntyre also discussed a previously unrevealed personal insult he considered using against CM Punk during their on-screen confrontation amid the Janel Grant controversy.
