An injury has reportedly sidelined TNA Wrestling star Elijah, which occurred during a six-man tag team match on the June 17 episode of WWE NXT. The incident happened as Elijah was executing a variation of the Old School maneuver on Trick Williams.
He landed awkwardly on his elbow and subsequently stopped using his left arm for the remainder of the contest. The situation was highlighted by Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Weekly, who pointed out the injury on social media.
“Elijah injured his left arm on NXT, somehow it appears nobody even noticed. Hopefully not too serious, but looked like elbow injury or maybe torn triceps,” Alvarez noted.
The timing of the injury raises questions about his status for TNA’s upcoming iMPACT! tapings scheduled for June 20 and 21 in Pittsburgh, for which he has been advertised. Since signing with TNA earlier this year after his WWE release, the former four-time 24/7 Champion has become a significant part of the roster. He recently challenged Trick Williams for the TNA World Championship at last month’s Against All Odds event.
This event follows another recent injury within WWE, where Liv Morgan sustained a legitimate injury during her match on WWE RAW. Commentator Michael Cole confirmed the injury’s legitimacy after the match was stopped abruptly. Morgan’s injury could affect plans for a reported match against Nikki Bella at an Evolution PLE in July. Other WWE talent currently on the injured list include Kevin Owens, Zoey Stark, Apollo Crews, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Rey Mysterio.
Despite Elijah’s injury during the NXT match, his team, which included Yoshiki Inamura and Josh Briggs, secured the victory over Trick Williams, AJ Francis, and Wes Lee after Inamura pinned the TNA World Champion.
