Becky Lynch became the second-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion at Money in the Bank, pinning Lyra Valkyria after a contentious bout on June 7 from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The title change occurred after a grueling 15-minute.
The conclusion of the match triggered a pre-arranged stipulation, forcing a defeated Lyra Valkyria to raise the new champion’s hand in the center of the ring. Lynch then escalated the humiliation by demanding Valkyria also strap the championship belt around her waist.
While reluctantly fulfilling the second demand, Valkyria snapped, attacking Lynch and leaving her laying in the ring. This act of defiance provided a measure of retribution for Valkyria and strongly indicated their feud will continue.
