Chelsea Green presented a distinct new look on the May 30 broadcast of WWE SmackDown, directly resulting from an injury sustained recently. During a backstage segment, Green engaged in a heated discussion with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis regarding the outcome of her Women’s United States Championship match against Zelina Vega at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24.
Green, initially concealing her face with a mask designed to look like her own, vehemently demanded that Aldis strip Vega of the championship and return it to her, asserting that Vega had broken her nose during their encounter. The injury occurred when Green was caught by a misexecuted 619 from Vega.
Upon Aldis’s insistence that they speak face-to-face, Green reluctantly removed the outer mask to reveal a rainbow-colored protective face mask underneath, appearing none too pleased with her new facial accessory. Despite Green’s demands, Aldis refused to overturn the championship situation. Instead, he announced an upcoming match between Zelina Vega and Alba Fyre.

The broken nose suffered by Green at Saturday Night’s Main Event has been confirmed as a clean break. Despite the injury, for which she reportedly showed considerable professionalism backstage by finishing the match and creating social media content around it, Green is not expected to miss any television time. She has hinted at embracing a “mask era” for her character. Adding a touch of humor to the situation, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus took to social media to jokingly offer Green a mask to borrow.
