Christian Cage reportedly continues to reject a reunion with Adam Copeland, causing significant adjustments to AEW’s creative direction. Plans for a tag team match involving Copeland and Christian Cage against FTR at All In have been largely affected by Cage’s reported desire to remain a heel.
Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful’s The Hump stream indicated that “People I talked to hinted to me that there were some hiccups in relation to turning Christian babyface or getting him out of the patriarchy. Seems like he wanted to do that for a little bit longer.” This reported resistance from Christian Cage, who currently operates under “The Patriarchy” storyline, has notably delayed the planned reunion. Sapp added, “I don’t know the reaction of those that were involved in the story, but they had planned for Cope and Christian against FTR at All In.”
Originally, the company envisioned this high-profile reunion for All In. However, internal discussions suggest the match is now tentatively slated for All Out. Sapp commented on the delay, saying, “Now I mean you could do it at all out and it could main event the show but, if I’m AEW, I’m saying Christian friend you are not the booker we want this match for All In and then we’ll do it again at All Out.”
