CM Punk has broken his silence on Paul Heyman’s betrayal at WrestleMania 41, calling it more painful than any physical damage. The former WWE Champion was competing in a Triple Threat match against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins on Night One of the event, with Heyman initially in his corner. However, in the match’s closing moments, Heyman turned on both Punk and Reigns, aiding Rollins in securing the win.
Speaking with Deadline, Punk revealed the emotional toll of Heyman’s actions, hinting at future retaliation.
Heyman has betrayed me before. We’ve been friends for a very long time, and friends fight. Since he’s betrayed me before, he knows how this plays out. He knows there’s receipts coming for him, too. The betrayal and the mental pain, I think, are worse than the physical.
Punk admitted he would have preferred Heyman staying loyal to Reigns rather than aligning with Rollins.
