CM Punk has changed his stance on headlining WrestleMania, revealing a more relaxed attitude toward his position on WWE’s biggest show. Speaking with Inside the Ropes, Punk addressed his previous vocal frustrations about never main eventing WrestleMania, explaining that his priorities have shifted in 2025.
During the interview, Punk acknowledged that fans have held onto his past comments more than he has, reflecting on how his perspective has evolved over time.
I also think that the things I may have said or did 10, 12 years ago—there are a lot of fans who have held on to that way more than I have. I think there are a lot of things that are less important to me in 2025. So yeah, sometimes I just think, well, it’s really not that big of a deal. Main eventing WrestleMania has always been a goal of mine, but goals change. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to wrestle in the main event of WrestleMania, but at this stage in my career, I look at it like, ‘Oh, okay, this person is going to main event? Alright, well, you’re not going to be able to follow this.’
Punk further demonstrated his confidence by stating that if he’s not in the final match, he’d be content performing earlier, knowing his performance would be difficult to follow.
So I don’t know what to tell you. I’ll go first, I’ll shower, I’ll eat some donuts, and then I’ll watch whatever you call a main event. And I’ll just go, ‘Oh yeah, alright, I was right—you couldn’t follow it.’
Punk’s immediate opportunity for a WrestleMania 41 match comes this weekend at Elimination Chamber, where he’ll compete against John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, and others for a World Title shot. Despite his changed outlook on main eventing, a victory would position him for one of the showcase matches at WWE’s biggest event of the year.
