CM Punk’s Latest RAW Appearance Criticized By Former WWE Writer

Vince Russo, a former head writer for WWE, expressed disapproval regarding CM Punk’s level of involvement on the May 19, 2025, episode of WWE RAW.

Speaking on the Sportskeeda Wrestling “Legion of RAW” podcast, Russo questioned the creative decision to feature CM Punk minimally, suggesting Punk’s star power could have been leveraged more throughout the broadcast, which Russo perceived as lacking in prominent figures.

Russo commented directly on Punk’s brief screen time, stating, “You got CM Punk in the house on a sht show, pardon my French, and you’re gonna use him the last 90 seconds of the show. Punk is there, you flew him in. He’s been in catering all day. That’s how Triple H is going to use him on this show.”

During the WWE RAW event in Greenville, CM Punk appeared in the concluding segment. He and Sami Zayn intervened to assist Jey Uso, who was being attacked by Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker. The segment culminated in a brawl involving the four men. CM Punk is also scheduled to compete at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event, teaming with Sami Zayn against Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker, who will be accompanied by Paul Heyman.
