Drew McIntyre addressed John Cena during the February 28 episode of SmackDown, interrupting a video package featuring the 16-time world champion. McIntyre directly criticized Cena, stating that he had become a hypocrite.
McIntyre claimed Cena used his influence to secure a spot in the Elimination Chamber, mocking Cena’s signature “You can’t see me” gesture while declaring he could indeed see through him. He questioned how Cena’s past self from 2010-2011 would view his current status and made remarks about Cena’s physical appearance, including a comment about his “bald spot deserving its own area code.”
During his address, McIntyre admitted he previously feared Cena’s backstage influence but no longer felt intimidated. He stated that wrestlers like Cena created “the monster” he has become and promised to “bury Cena at WWE Elimination Chamber.”

McIntyre had previously discussed his thoughts about Cena during a media call promoting Elimination Chamber. During that call, he expressed disappointment at not having the opportunity to speak directly to Cena.
To be honest, I was hoping I’d get the opportunity to say some things to his face. We discussed that I’ve never had a one-on-one match with John, even though we spent literally years and years with each other.
McIntyre added during the media call that similar to CM Punk, he wasn’t afraid to “tell the truth,” specifically his version of it, and mentioned he would use social media if necessary to express his thoughts about Cena.
