Drew McIntyre Reveals Unscripted Moment with Wife at WrestleMania 40

During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Drew McIntyre shares that his emotional championship celebration with his wife Kaitlyn at WrestleMania 40 was completely spontaneous.

Drew McIntyre recently revealed that presenting his World Heavyweight Championship to his wife Kaitlyn Frohnapfel during WrestleMania 40 was an unplanned moment. The Scottish wrestler discussed this emotional highlight during an appearance on Inside The Ropes.

McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins to capture the World Heavyweight Championship on Night Two of WrestleMania 40, experiencing a brief but meaningful championship celebration before CM Punk’s interference and Damian Priest’s subsequent Money in the Bank cash-in.

I felt validated in Philadelphia at ‘Mania to have that moment. I made the absolute most of it after I won the match, with the fans chanting ‘you deserve it.’ I wish it was ‘you’ve earned it’ because I certainly felt like I’d earned that moment. But nonetheless, I was happy about it. […] Then I was able to present the title to my wife, who was such a big part of the journey, which wasn’t planned. I went with how I felt at that moment. That five minutes after the pinfall was still very special, still counts and still something that will always stick with me before everything went horribly wrong in front of the world.

The couple married in December 2016 after meeting in 2013. McIntyre has previously credited his wife for supporting him during his return to WWE in 2017, stating he wouldn’t have become a World Champion without her support.

McIntyre’s championship reign lasted only five minutes before Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract following CM Punk’s attack. Both McIntyre and Rollins later challenged Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank in July, where Priest retained in a Triple Threat match.
