Drew McIntyre will be absent from WWE television programming for the foreseeable future, according to a report from PWInsider. This development for the World Wrestling Entertainment talent follows his steel cage match against Damian Priest at the Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, 2025.
The contest, which took place at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, concluded after Damian Priest utilized a Con-Chair-To on Drew McIntyre. Priest then exited the cage, leaving McIntyre motionless in the ring.
Sources have indicated that Drew McIntyre has been “working hurt for some time,” and his appearance on Saturday reportedly fulfilled his current WWE dates. Information from backstage suggests he will be taking an extended period away from television.

Furthermore, reports confirm that McIntyre’s upcoming absence is not linked to any external projects, such as rumored Hollywood roles. The time off is understood to be strictly for personal reasons and a break from in-ring competition.
The physical demands of McIntyre’s schedule in recent years have been noted, and this period away is considered a necessary respite.
