During Monday’s RAW broadcast, a captioning error incorrectly attributed The New Day’s new entrance theme to Jim Johnston. According to Fightful Select, the 72-year-old composer was not involved in creating the new music.
Johnston, who composed over 10,000 pieces of music during his tenure with WWE from the mid-1980s until 2017, had previously created The New Day’s original theme song “New Day, New Way” in 2014. The new entrance music was actually produced by Def Rebel, featuring collaborations with wrestlers Sayzee and Mega Ran on vocals.
Backstage sources indicate that Johnston’s departure from WWE in 2017 marked the end of his involvement with the company’s musical production, with CFO$ initially taking over these duties. At present, there are no plans for Johnston’s return to WWE’s music department.
