The departure follows a prior announcement from Abadon in late May, where they revealed that their contract with AEW would not be renewed upon its expiration this month.

Abadon’s last appearance on AEW television occurred in December 2023 at the Worlds End event, where they challenged Julia Hart for the TBS Championship. Throughout 2024 and into early 2025, their work was primarily featured on Ring of Honor programming, with their final ROH match being a victory over Rachael Ellering in February 2025.
Having debuted with AEW in 2020, Abadon’s “Living Dead Girl” persona made a distinct impression. Despite notable matches against figures like Hikaru Shida and Britt Baker, their television time on flagship shows such as Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision was limited, with the bulk of their appearances happening on the former YouTube series, AEW Dark. This perceived underutilization led to disappointment among some fans and wrestling analysts following the news of their exit.
Despite the departure, Abadon has signaled a clear intent to remain active. They made a successful debut for Game Changer Wrestling in April 2025 with a victory over Sonny Kiss, indicating a proactive approach to their career on the independent scene.
