Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Lex Luger recently addressed questions regarding his absence from the WWE Hall of Fame. The wrestling veteran spoke candidly about his current status during an interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT.
When asked about not being included in the prestigious group alongside many of his peers, Luger maintained a positive perspective on the situation. The two-time WCW champion expressed contentment with his career accomplishments regardless of Hall of Fame recognition.
Well, people say that good things come to those who wait; always hopeful. If not, I still feel I had a great career. There’s a lot of deserving guys other than me who still aren’t in as well. So yeah, it would be a huge honor, though, if and when it happens.
Luger competed for WWE from 1993 to 1995 before returning to WCW, where he captured multiple championships throughout his tenure with the promotion. Despite his significant contributions to both companies, his name remains absent from WWE’s Hall of Fame roster.
The former Royal Rumble co-winner also pondered the selection criteria that determines Hall of Fame induction, noting that several deserving talents have yet to receive recognition.
I don’t know what criteria they do, because there’s a lot of other guys, too, that should have been in. I don’t know if it was me personally or anything with Vince at all. I’m not sure about that. Only they can answer that.
The 66-year-old wrestler remains a respected figure in professional wrestling history, having left a lasting impact through his work in both major promotions during the industry’s most competitive era.
