WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam believes a new tradition could be forming for the company’s biggest event of the year. His perspective aligns with WWE’s recent confirmation that for the first time in nearly four decades, WrestleMania will take place in the same venue for a second consecutive year, returning to Las Vegas in 2026.
Speaking on his 1 Of A Kind podcast, Van Dam detailed why he feels the city is a perfect regular host for the annual spectacle, comparing it to its status as a premier destination for major sporting events.
“That kind of felt like it was a good possibility anyway,” RVD said. “I could see them wanting to do it regularly here, because it has everything and you don’t need to go anywhere else… We’re the f**ing sports capital of the West Coast now, and we’re getting a baseball team and men’s basketball team, from what I understand, on top of everything. So it’s just growing like a motherf**er here.”
WWE made the return official on June 11, scheduling WrestleMania 42 for April 18-19, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium. The decision was heavily influenced by the record-breaking success of WrestleMania 41, which drew a combined 124,693 fans and generated the largest gate in the company’s history.
Van Dam also theorized about the potential for WWE to continue expanding its presence during the week, a vision that is already taking shape.
“I said a long time ago, with all that growth, they’re going to be finding crevices to just stuff that growth into, and they’re going to be having all these other peripheral, profitable side projects that are that are going to be really awesome, however they decide to do it,” he explained.
His prediction mirrors WWE’s announced plans for the week, which include hosting SmackDown, the Hall of Fame Ceremony, NXT Stand & Deliver, and the Raw After WrestleMania in Las Vegas, all anchored by the multi-day WWE World fan experience.
