Former WWE World Champion Promises ‘Massacre’ Ahead Of SmackDown

Ahead of his steel cage match against Damian Priest at WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) Saturday Night’s Main Event in Tampa on May 24, 2025, Drew McIntyre has vividly predicted a “massacre,” drawing parallels to his formative years and bar fights experienced in his self-described second hometown.

Speaking with The Orlando Sentinel, the 39-year-old Drew McIntyre, a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion who also noted a recent health concern after working hurt in past months, did not mince words about his expectations for the contest against Damian Priest. “I had some fun bar fights in Tampa in my 20s. [Saturday] is going to resemble one of those bar fights. It’s going to be a freaking massacre,” McIntyre declared. He proudly spoke of how Tampa, where he moved from Scotland at age 21, helped shape him, recalling numerous visits with a young Sheamus to MacDinton’s, the Irish pub where he also met his wife.

The Scottish Psychopath’s intense rivalry with Damian Priest is set to escalate inside the steel cage at Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXIX. Their televised singles encounters were evened up when McIntyre won their Sin City Street Fight at WrestleMania 41.

This upcoming match in Tampa occurs as tensions within WWE are reportedly near a boiling point following the WrestleMania 41 season, with tonight’s WWE SmackDown serving as the final build.
