Goldust Officially Hangs Up His Boots from Professional Wrestling

Dustin Rhodes confirms the Goldust character is officially retired, ending speculation about a potential return to the ring.

Dustin Rhodes announced the official retirement of the Goldust character on June 16, 2025. This statement ends fan speculation regarding a potential return of the iconic persona.

Rhodes responded to a fan’s social media pitch for a faction involving Goldust, Stardust, and Mr. Iguana. In his reply, Rhodes indicated the character is retired and expressed satisfaction with his current career path.

Goldust is retired. Sorry. Happy where I am at.

The Goldust character, known for its unique and theatrical presentation, was a prominent figure in WWE, particularly during the Attitude Era. Rhodes transitioned from WWE in 2019, making his AEW debut in a notable match against Cody Rhodes, his brother.

Rhodes has since operated as “The Natural” in AEW, balancing in-ring competition with mentoring talent backstage. His decision to retire the Goldust character aligns with his current career focus outside of WWE.
