The World Heavyweight Championship has once again changed hands, as Gunther defeated Jey Uso during the main event of the June 9 edition of WWE RAW from the PHX Arena in Phoenix. “The Ring General” reclaimed the title after forcing his opponent to pass out in a sleeper hold, concluding a physically demanding contest.
This championship bout was a highly anticipated rematch from WrestleMania 41, where Uso had originally captured the gold by making Gunther submit. The Phoenix crowd attempted to play on this history, taunting the challenger with chants of “You tapped out” as the match began.
However, Jey Uso entered the title defense at a significant disadvantage. On the prior week’s episode of WWE RAW, he was the victim of a multi-person assault by Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. This followed a strenuous tag team match just days earlier at Money in the Bank, where he and Cody Rhodes secured a victory over John Cena and Logan Paul.

Capitalizing on Uso’s weakened state, Gunther methodically targeted his opponent’s midsection throughout the match. While Jey, who had arrived at the arena with his son, attempted to replicate his WrestleMania victory by applying an early sleeper hold, Gunther managed to escape. In the end, it was Gunther who successfully used the submission to regain the World Heavyweight Championship, avenging his most significant loss.
