Hollywood Director Makes Big Revelations About Seth Rollins

Julius Onah confirms Seth Rollins' King Cobra role was removed from Captain America 4 during reshoots, praising the WWE star's performance despite casting Giancarlo Esposito.

Marvel director Julius Onah has confirmed that Seth Rollins‘ role was cut from “Captain America 4: Brave New World,” bringing clarity to months of speculation about the WWE star’s involvement in the Marvel film.

In a recent interview with Collider, Onah addressed the situation surrounding Rollins’ rumored appearance as Serpent Society member King Cobra. The Nigerian-American filmmaker revealed that Rollins was originally cast to appear in the opening sequence of the superhero film, which hit theaters on February 14.

In terms of the Seth Rollins of it all, he was a character that was just going to feature in the opening of the movie. Seth is amazing. Incredible. I would work with him again in a heartbeat, but as we were iterating on the movie, it was very clear that some of the tonal things that we were playing with with the original iteration of Serpent Society had to fit even more closely in the mold with the rest of the movie.

Despite the decision to remove Rollins from the final cut, Onah expressed significant admiration for the WWE performer’s talents and indicated interest in future collaborations.

The situation aligns with Rollins’ own recent comments, where he acknowledged his role was removed after the casting of “Breaking Bad” actor Giancarlo Esposito. Rollins had previously maintained cautious optimism about his involvement as recently as February 2024, despite growing speculation when he was absent from promotional materials.

Leaked set photos from mid-2023 had shown Rollins in costume as the Marvel villain, fueling anticipation among fans of both wrestling and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Entertainment industry sources had characterized his intended appearance as a supporting role rather than a leading part.

This would have marked a significant addition to Rollins’ acting resume, which includes his 2016 film debut in “Sharknado 4” as AstroTech Lopez, voice work in “Robo-WrestleMania!” and “The Jetsons,” a role alongside Wesley Snipes in 2017’s “Armed Response,” voice acting in the 2019 animated comedy “Trouble,” and a part in the 2020 comedy “Like a Boss.”
