Jey Uso, who secured his WrestleMania 41 opportunity by winning the men’s Royal Rumble, recently addressed critics who question his position as a top WWE competitor. During an interview with CBS Sports, Uso discussed the mounting pressure and his determination to silence doubters.
The conversation with CBS Sports turned to the subject of fan criticism, with Uso acknowledging the skepticism surrounding his elevated position in WWE. He directly addressed the perception that he might be undeserving of his current spot.
This is do or die for me. I feel like I am doubted a lot. A lot of people are doubting me right now, Uce. I’m not supposed to be in this position. I know that. They know that. But I’m going to shut them all up.
Uso reflected on his tag team career, highlighting notable matches against prominent teams like The Wyatt Family, The Shield, and The New Day. Despite this successful history, he expressed that he has yet to deliver a truly memorable singles match, particularly noting the criticism of his WrestleMania 40 match against Jimmy Uso.
I always thought we put on great matches. If you look at it, we had great matches with The Wyatt Family, The Shield, The New Day. Now, I feel like I’ve had a couple of good matches but not ones that stick in people’s minds. This is redemption time on the big stage. The pressure is on.
Uso stated his goal to defeat GUNTHER and capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41. His opportunity to prove critics wrong will come at the upcoming premium live event.
