Bully Ray floated a controversial storyline angle during a recent Busted Open Radio appearance, proposing Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena should assume kayfabe responsibility for R-Truth’s departure from WWE. The wrestling veteran suggested Cena reference their recent feud and involve TKO Board member Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the narrative.
“At that press conference a couple weeks ago, before Cena put Truth through a table, he said, ‘You know, Ron, I never liked you,’” Bully recounted. “If this release is legit, I’d have Cena grab a mic on TV and say, ‘I never liked Ron Killings. He was released because of me. I said I was going to ruin wrestling—starting with the people you love. You loved him? I called The Rock. The Rock made the call. End of story. Got a problem? Write a letter.’”
R-Truth’s final WWE match occurred at Saturday Night’s Main Event against Cena. The company opted not to renew his contract, a decision confirmed by the 53-year-old wrestler via social media on June 1. “I just got released from WWE,” he wrote. “I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride.”

Sources indicate the non-renewal stemmed from roster space constraints amid NXT call-ups rather than disciplinary issues. The move reportedly surprised both R-Truth and colleagues, with one top star privately criticizing the decision as “total nonsense.” WWE allegedly offered reduced financial terms for a new deal, which the veteran declined.
Multiple independent promotions have expressed interest in the former 24/7 Champion following his WWE exit. His departure concludes a tenure spanning two stints with the company, highlighted by comedic segments and consistent fan engagement.
