During the go-home episode of WWE SmackDown before Money in the Bank, a tense in-ring segment featuring John Cena, Logan Paul, Jey Uso, and Cody Rhodes took an unexpected turn when the crowd’s chants drew Cena’s attention.
The segment saw Cena break from the script to directly address the vocal “We Want Truth” chants from the audience. He engaged the crowd by stating, “You hypocrites chant for Truth, you are all pathetic liars!”
The chants were a direct reference to the recent departure of R-Truth, whose contract was not renewed by WWE. Reports from Sportskeeda WrestleBinge via WrestleVotes Radio indicated that WWE Superstars had received instructions not to wear R-Truth merchandise on WWE RAW, as the company aimed to prevent any on-air mentions of the 53-year-old.

Despite these corporate directives and Cena’s actions, WWE is unlikely to penalize the long-standing figure due to his established influence within the company and the creative freedom typically afforded to him in his promos. Cena’s remarks did not explicitly name R-Truth; instead, he used the word “Truth” in a context suggesting “reality,” implying that he and Logan Paul controlled the narrative. This approach allowed Cena to subtly acknowledge R-Truth without directly contravening company instruction.
Currently, there are no reports indicating any backstage issues concerning John Cena following the segment. This entire segment served as the final build for the upcoming tag team match at Money in the Bank, where Cena and Paul are set to face Uso and Rhodes.
John Cena just acknowledged the ‘We Want Truth’ chants:
“You can’t handle the Truth. Our Truth is right here staring you in the face and there’s not a damn thing you or anyone who fights for you can do about it.”#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/0HoNOgD0dm
