A significant singles match featuring Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena against R-Truth has been set for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. The encounter is scheduled for May 24 in Tampa, FL.
The announcement occurred on the May 16 broadcast of WWE SmackDown. During an interview segment with Wade Barrett, R-Truth disclosed that he had conversed with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis to secure the bout against Cena.
R-Truth sought the match after John Cena, whom he referred to as his “childhood hero”, put him through a table during the post-show press conference for WWE Backlash: St. Louis. Following R-Truth’s revelation, commentators Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett officially confirmed the contest.
