Recent developments in the King of the Ring 2025 tournament have intensified discussions around the status of Karrion Kross in WWE. When a final spot in the tournament bracket was announced by Adam Pearce, it was filled by Jey Uso, leaving Kross out of the event. The decision drew online criticism from a segment of fans who had anticipated Kross’s inclusion, citing his recent increase in popularity.
This omission follows Kross also being absent from the qualifying matches for the 2025 Money in the Bank event. His last televised singles match on WWE RAW was a loss to AJ Styles on the April 14 broadcast, and his most recent match on record was against Akira Tozawa on the June 7 episode of WWE Main Event.
Compounding the situation are reports concerning his contractual status. According to Fightful Select, Kross’s WWE contract is set to expire this summer, and as of early June, no discussions regarding a renewal or extension had taken place. This aligns with a recent trend within the company of allowing some talent contracts to lapse.
Amid the uncertainty surrounding his future with the company, Kross has announced his first independent project. He revealed a deal with Audible to narrate an audiobook based on his life story. During a recent interview, Kross also expressed his frustration over the public leak of his contract details, which he described as a breach of privacy.
While Kross has remained a part of WWE storylines, including a recent on-screen interaction with Sami Zayn, his booking has not reflected the momentum from a viral podcast appearance during WrestleMania 41 week. His wife and manager, Scarlett, has also made social media posts that have been interpreted as hinting at a potential departure.
