A report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided insight into the planning behind Jey Uso’s recent 51-day tenure as World Heavyweight Champion, indicating the brief duration was predetermined. According to the report, the established plan was for Uso to have a short reign before losing the championship back to Gunther.
This title change occurred on the June 9 episode of WWE RAW, when Gunther defeated Uso by submission to reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship. The loss concluded Uso’s first-ever world title reign, which began at WrestleMania 41 when he originally defeated Gunther.
The plan for Gunther to regain the title was reportedly scheduled to be executed prior to a planned retirement match for Goldberg.
