Major Promotion Owner on WWE Buyout Rumors: ‘We Are Not For Sale’

NWA owner Billy Corgan has definitively stated that his promotion is not for sale, putting an end to rumors of a potential acquisition by WWE. The speculation intensified following WWE’s strategic shift toward collaborating with other wrestling organizations.

The conversation gained momentum during a recent appearance by Corgan and Natalya on Busted Open Radio. On the show, Natalya expressed her interest in a second match with NWA Women’s World Champion Kenzie Paige. This followed a cross-promotional title match between the two in May, which fueled fan discussion about a deeper relationship between the NWA and WWE.

WWE’s new approach under its current leadership has seen collaborations with promotions such as TNA and Pro Wrestling NOAH. Furthermore, an announcement during WrestleMania weekend that WWE had acquired AAA added to the belief that the company might be looking to purchase other promotions.

During the radio appearance, Corgan addressed the situation directly, viewing the collaboration not as a precursor to a sale, but as a sign of respect for the NWA’s position in the industry.

“The WWE endorsement, if you even wanna call it that — let’s call it a blessing — shows you that we’ve earned our spot in this game here,” Corgan stated. “We’re not competition by any stretch of the imagination but we are a player now and the other thing I wanna add really quickly is we’re not for sale. A lot of people assumed that the minute that door opened with Nattie, that that night we were gonna be sold. We’re not for sale and WWE has not asked.”
