Meiko Satomura has officially retired from professional wrestling after her final match at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall. The legendary competitor teamed with Manami to face Aja Kong and Chihiro Hashimoto in her farewell bout, fulfilling her 2024 announcement of retiring in April 2025.
Following the match, Satomura shared a heartfelt message on social media, reflecting on her three-decade career.
Thank you to everyone who came to watch my retirement match today. I am truly happy to have stepped down from the ring surrounded by so many people I have met over the past 30 years. I will devote my life to making the new era of professional wrestling even more amazing. ‼️Thank you very much.
Satomura’s retirement marks the end of an influential career that saw her compete across major promotions in Japan and internationally. Known for her technical prowess and stiff striking style, she helped elevate women’s wrestling throughout the 2000s and 2010s. Her post-retirement plans include contributing to the industry’s future development.
