New Stop Added To John Cena’s Farewell Tour

John Cena will bring his farewell tour to Newark for the first time in seven years, appearing on WWE SmackDown.

Another stop has been added to John Cena’s farewell tour, with a new date announced for his final run in WWE. The Prudential Center revealed that Cena is scheduled to appear at the WWE SmackDown taping in Newark, New Jersey, on August 1, the night before SummerSlam.

“JUST ANNOUNCED: For the first time in 7 years, @WWE SmackDown returns to Newark the night before SummerSlam with nonstop action as John Cena continues ‘The Last Time is Now’ tour along with the biggest WWE Superstars! Tickets on sale Fri., June 27 at 10am,” the venue announced on X/Twitter.

This appearance is part of a busy schedule for the reigning WWE Champion. His immediate plans include a match against R-Truth on the June 20 episode of SmackDown, an appearance on the following week’s show, and a major title defense against CM Punk in Saudi Arabia.

Cena’s 2025 farewell tour marks his final year as an in-ring competitor. The tour, which began in January, has already been historic, featuring Cena capturing his 17th world title and making a surprising heel turn. Currently about halfway through its expected 35 to 40 appearances, the tour is a central focus of WWE programming.

Following the newly added Newark date, Cena’s confirmed schedule includes international stops for events like Clash in Paris in August and Crown Jewel in Australia in October. His final match is slated to take place in his hometown of Boston in mid-December, though an opponent has not yet been named. At 48 years old, Cena has cited his declining athletic ability as the reason for his retirement, aiming to make way for new talent.
