Nikki Bella’s return to WWE programming during this past Monday’s episode of RAW in Phoenix, Arizona, descended into chaos after a confrontation with Liv Morgan ended with the WWE Hall of Famer laid out in the ring. The appearance was intended to build anticipation for the all-women’s premium live event, Evolution 2, which is scheduled for July 13.

During her promotional address to the audience, Bella made a notable error when she incorrectly pronounced the name of former NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer. The mention came after Vaquer’s busy weekend, which included competing in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match, ultimately won by Naomi.

The segment was then interrupted by the arrival of Women’s Tag Team Champion Liv Morgan, who took issue with being omitted from Bella’s list of top stars. Morgan mocked the veteran for not “having a man,” a jab at Bella’s personal life, prompting Bella to retort by referencing Morgan’s recent on-screen love triangle involving Dominik Mysterio and Roxanne Perez. Enraged by the verbal exchange, Nikki Bella charged at Morgan, who was prepared for the assault and neutralized the Hall of Famer with her finisher, the Oblivion.

Heated Rivalry Set for Evolution 2

The physical altercation has ignited a new rivalry, with reports indicating that WWE is planning a program between the two that will culminate at Evolution 2. The clash represents a generational showdown, pitting a foundational figure of the Divas era against a current champion. This would be the second edition of the all-women’s event, with the inaugural show in 2018 being headlined by Nikki Bella against Ronda Rousey.

There is also consideration being given to expanding the storyline to include Nikki’s twin sister, Brie Bella. This could potentially lead to The Bella Twins challenging Liv Morgan and her partner, Raquel Rodriguez, for the Women’s Tag Team Championship at the event.

Nikki Bella’s return is not a spontaneous event. Her appearance was first announced during the Money in the Bank event earlier in June. Furthermore, veteran superstar Natalya revealed that she and Tyson Kidd had been privately training with Nikki for two months. Her last televised in-ring performance was a strong showing in the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble, where she was one of the final four participants.
