Poll Reveals Popular Pick To Dethrone Jey Uso

An Instagram poll by Gunther suggests fans see Jey Uso as the World Heavyweight Champion who will eventually face him, despite Uso's upcoming defense.

Gunther recently conducted an Instagram poll that offered a revealing insight into fan perceptions regarding the trajectory of the World Heavyweight Championship. When Gunther asked his followers who they believed would ultimately “hand over” the championship to him, a commanding 82 percent of respondents selected the current World Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso. In contrast, only 18 percent of participants chose Logan Paul, Uso’s upcoming challenger.

This fan sentiment emerges as Jey Uso is scheduled to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul at the Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24. Gunther has publicly stated his intention to seek a championship match against whoever emerges victorious from that contest.

The strong fan expectation that Jey Uso would be the one to eventually lose the title to Gunther is notable, especially considering Jey Uso defeated Gunther decisively at WrestleMania to capture the championship. While WWE’s policy of automatic rematches was discontinued some time ago, the company occasionally makes exceptions, adding a layer of intrigue to Gunther’s ongoing pursuit of the World Heavyweight Title.

Vince Russo on Jey Uso’s Championship Stakes

Wrestling veteran Vince Russo has expressed significant concerns regarding Jey Uso’s current tenure as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. During a discussion on his “Writing with Russo” podcast, Russo highlighted the potential negative impact on Jey Uso’s career if he were to lose the championship in his upcoming defense against Logan Paul at Saturday Night’s Main Event, suggesting such a loss could be critically detrimental.

Russo recalled Jey Uso’s previous, relatively short reign with the Intercontinental Championship as a point of reference. While acknowledging the increased visibility Logan Paul could bring to the championship due to his mainstream appeal, Russo contended that Paul does not require a title to maintain his prominence.

The primary thrust of Russo’s argument focused on the adverse effects a title loss would have on Uso at this stage. “Couple of things too you gotta look at Chris. How quickly they took the Intercontinental Title off of him. So you can do that again. And number 2, man if anybody doesn’t need a title, it’s Logan Paul. If anyone, like he does not. The only thing about it though is, if Logan Paul were indeed the champion, you know he would be bringing that belt everywhere. That belt would be all over the place. But no Chris, if you take that belt off of Jey Uso at this point, you kill that guy,” Russo elaborated, emphasizing the crucial phase of Jey Uso’s career as a main event performer.
