Real Reason Behind R-Truth’s WWE Release Revealed

R-Truth's WWE contract was not renewed due to financial calculations, a decision led by Paul "Triple H" Levesque amidst broader organizational cuts.

R-Truth’s WWE contract recently went unrenewed, resulting in his departure from the company. The primary reason for this decision was financial.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicated that WWE deemed R-Truth’s former contract salary excessive compared to his utilization. Meltzer stated, “Essentially in his case it was a financial decision by the company, in the sense his last contract was so high that for the level they were using him they felt it made no sense.”

Paul “Triple H” Levesque made the decision for both R-Truth’s and Carlito’s departures. Meltzer elaborated on Wrestling Observer Radio, “There’s numbers. They’re looking at the numbers, and they’re looking at how many do we have to cut, or how much money do we have to cut. And those were the picks. Those were the [Paul ‘Triple H’] Levesque picks, and that’s what it is.”

R-Truth’s non-renewal occurred last week, alongside Carlito and Sarah Rowe. Prior talent releases included Baron Corbin, Indi Hartwell, and Tegan Nox before the November 1, 2024, SmackDown, and 17 additional names on May 2. Following R-Truth’s departure, fans chanted “We want Truth” on the June 2 and June 3 editions of WWE RAW and WWE NXT.
