Recently Crowned WWE Star Addresses Criticism Surrounding Title Win

NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jayne addressed her critics, explaining the intense, behind-the-scenes work that fueled her recent title victory.

Jacy Jayne is unapologetic in her belief that she earned the NXT Women’s Championship, a victory many viewed as a stunning upset. During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, the new champion detailed the rigorous, undisclosed training regimen that gave her the confidence to seize her moment.

The title win, which took place on the May 27 episode of WWE NXT, saw Jayne defeat Stephanie Vaquer for the championship. The victory was controversial, requiring interference from her Fatal Influence stablemates, Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx, to secure the pinfall. This finish contributed to the perception of the win as a major surprise, a notion Jayne firmly rejects.

When asked by Bully Ray why she wasn’t shocked by the outcome, Jayne explained her unwavering self-belief. “Well, I feel like I’ve stayed the course, and I know like hard work eventually is going to pay off. Like I always knew I would get to this point, I just didn’t know when it would happen. So I’m not shocked—like I worked my ass off.”

Jayne then revealed the extent of her previously unknown efforts to elevate her performance, which involved training at a separate facility outside of the WWE Performance Center.

“Like people don’t know this and I’m not really sure if I’m allowed to say this, but I was taking night classes at another school for months and months and months,” Jayne stated. “Like I would do my training here at the PC in the morning. I would take ring and then I’d do strength and conditioning. I’d go home, I’d take like a power nap and then I’d go to Flatbacks at night—Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears’ school.”

This demanding schedule became her new normal. “So I was doing double duty like multiple times a week, like however much I could. Like I was working my ass off in the dark and nobody knew that,” she added. “So I knew when the opportunity came to me, I was going to be ready and I was going to take it. And that’s exactly what happened.”

Her comments on the radio echo the sentiment she shared on social media on May 28, immediately following her win. She directly taunted those who had underestimated her, particularly during her time with Toxic Attraction. “To everyone who ever doubted me, called me the third wheel, said I’d never make it… HAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!! Never doubt me again.” This victory marks Jayne’s first singles title in WWE, a significant career milestone that moves her beyond her two previous reigns as an NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion.
