A compelling new direction has been proposed for Roman Reigns’ eventual return to WWE programming, involving a potential alliance with his cousin, United States Champion Jacob Fatu. The idea was discussed by a panel of wrestling legends who see strength in pairing the two family members.
The speculation occurred during an episode of Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine, where veteran reporter Bill Apter questioned if Reigns should team up with Fatu when he comes back to television.
“What do you think, not as a mouthpiece or anything, of when Roman Reigns comes back, he allies himself with Jacob Fatu?” Apter said. “I think that would be so strong. They’re both babyfaces now.”
WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long agreed with the concept and suggested a creative twist that would add another layer to the storyline, ultimately leading to a conflict between the two.

“Bill, you said they both are babyfaces. Well, there’s a good way to do it. Bring Roman in and let Jacob turn on him,” Long stated.
This potential storyline coincides with recent reports indicating Reigns is expected to make his return in time for SummerSlam on August 2 and 3. He has been absent from WWE television since the episode of WWE RAW following WrestleMania 41, where he was taken out in a storyline attack by Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker after Paul Heyman’s betrayal.
While the Fatu alliance presents a fresh narrative, the most widely anticipated plan for Reigns’ comeback is a direct feud with Seth Rollins to seek revenge. However, Rollins has recently entered a new program with LA Knight, which could influence the timing of a potential clash with Reigns.
Other scenarios for the former champion have also been discussed by analysts. These include a potential challenge against John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship or a program against Cody Rhodes.
For now, the suggested alliance remains speculative. Fatu, who captured the United States Championship from LA Knight at WrestleMania 41, has established himself as a babyface in a feud with his former stablemate Solo Sikoa. Meanwhile, Reigns has not competed since he and CM Punk were defeated by Rollins at the same event.
