Roxanne Perez conveyed strong belief in Cora Jade’s prospects following her WWE release, emphasizing the significant bond they forged. During an interview with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, Perez recalled their shared aspirations of reaching WWE and the memorable experiences they had in NXT.
Perez highlighted Jade’s influence on her own development, stating, “I absolutely love Cora so much. And, yeah, we definitely talked about making it to the WWE together before we even made it, and being able to share all of those moments that we were able to share together from her last (NXT) match, being able to tag with me was really cool. And I feel like, when I look back at my NXT career — oh, that kind of made me cry.”
The collaboration on promotional segments and backstage interactions with Jade, according to Perez, helped reveal a previously unseen, more comfortable facet of her persona. “I feel like, when I look back at my NXT career, I just see Cora and how much she helped me, how much she helped me with my character work, and to be comfortable with who I am. My heel turn was close to us teaming up again together. So being able to do all of these promos with her and these backstages really brought out a different side of me and a more comfortable side, and a side that I had never really shown to the world or the crowd before,” Perez explained.

Despite finding it challenging to proceed without Jade, now known as Elayna Black, Perez remains certain of her former partner’s ability to succeed. “So yeah, I absolutely love Cora, and it’s hard to do it without her now, but I know she’s gonna absolutely kill it in whatever she decides to do. I think everybody should definitely keep an eye on Elayna Black because she’s gonna do some really cool things,” Perez affirmed. WWE released Jade last month. Subsequently, Black launched an OnlyFans account and teased an announcement for June 14.
Speaking on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” Elayna Black herself addressed her future, indicating an openness to joining AEW, where she previously had two matches on AEW Dark in 2020 before signing with WWE. Black mentioned creative freedom as a significant attraction, noting, “I would definitely be open to going to AEW. I loved my time there. I have a lot of friends there… I love the fact that they have as much creative freedom as they do. I feel like I’m so much for storylines and character stuff… So it’s definitely something I would be open to.” She is currently accepting independent bookings.
